Royal North Devon Golf Club

About the Club

Founded in 1864, Royal North Devon (RND) is the oldest golf course in England and the spiritual home of English links golf. Laid out by Old Tom Morris across the common land of Northam Burrows, playing RND is a pure step back in time. The course remains largely unaltered, featuring wide, flat fairways, grazing ponies and cattle, giant rushes, and historic turf that plays fast and firm. The clubhouse functions as a living museum, housed with historical golfing memorabilia second only to the R&A.

Key Details:

  • The Course: The historic Old Tom Morris links layout—an authentic, completely unaltered classic set on open coastal common land.

  • Championship Pedigree: Host to the English Amateur, the West of England Championship, and foundational national events since the 19th century.

  • Facilities: World-famous historic museum clubhouse, traditional bar and dining, Pro Shop, and extensive practice ground.

  • The Playing Experience: An authentic, raw links experience featuring firm turf, stiff sea breezes, massive green complexes, and iconic natural hazards like the "Great Bunker."
