Isle of Purbeck Golf Club

About the Club

Set high on a nature reserve overlooking Poole Harbour, Brownsea Island, and the Solent, the Isle of Purbeck offers one of the most visually stunning golfing backdrops in the world. Originally established in 1892 and later extended by Harry Colt in 1928, the Purbeck course winds through wild, heather-strewn heathland. The course retains its historic, natural charm, requiring players to shape shots around dense gorse and heather while coping with wind coming off the Jurassic Coast.

Key Details:

  • The Course: A historic heathland-links hybrid designed by Harry Colt, framed by heather, gorse, and 360-degree views of the coastline.

  • Championship Pedigree: Long history of hosting regional amateur titles, county championships, and prestigious invitationals.

  • Facilities: Historic stone clubhouse featuring a bar, restaurant, outdoor viewing deck, Pro Shop, and practice ground.

  • The Playing Experience: Exposed to coastal elements and lined with punishing heather, it rewards accurate ball flight control, clever course management, and crisp iron play.
