Stinchcombe Hill Golf Club

About the Club

Perched 700 feet above the Severn Valley on the Cotswold escarpment, Stinchcombe Hill was described by Laura Davies as "one of the most scenic courses in Europe." Designed originally by Fred Hawtree and James Braid, the course sits on a high downland plateau surrounded by steep valleys, offering 360-degree views across Gloucestershire and Wales.

Key Details:

  • The Course: A high-downland plateau layout defined by natural valley hazards, firm turf, and panoramic Cotswold vistas.

  • Championship Pedigree: Host to Gloucestershire County Championships and regional ladies' championships.

  • Facilities: Clubhouse with panoramic valley terrace, Pro Shop, practice putting green, and short-game area.

  • The Playing Experience: Fast downland play on firm turf, where managing the winds on the open plateau and navigating natural slopes is key
