Royal Porthcawl Golf Club

About the Club

Established in 1891 and granted its Royal charter in 1909, Royal Porthcawl is internationally recognized as the premier links course in Wales. Occupying a prominent headland overlooking Rest Bay and the Bristol Channel, the course has no sand dunes blocking the coastal views, leaving it completely exposed to the prevailing winds.

Key Details:

  • The Course: A world-top-100 championship links with a unique layout where every hole commands sea views and changing wind directions.

  • Location: Porthcawl, South Wales, set on a dramatically exposed coastal headland.

  • Championship Pedigree: Host to the AIG women’s open, Senior Open Championship, the Walker Cup, and the Curtis Cup.

  • Facilities: Traditional Royal clubhouse offering sea views, high-end dining, practice facilities, and a championship Pro Shop.

  • The Playing Experience: Exceptional, fast-paved fairways and world-class greens that test every club in the bag—especially when the wind sweeps off the Atlantic.
